There are lots of people who desire positions in the medical field. If you ask them why, most of the time it’s because they feel like they need to be helping people. This is true for a large majority of people who find themselves working in the medical field as a professional – they have an innate desire to help those who need it. Plus, it’s a pretty darn fascinating field to be working in.
However, the amount of stress, pressure, and intensity that can be potentially involved can be very dangerous for the medical professionals themselves. It is unfortunate that working as a paramedic can actually lead to depression. If you are in a situation where you get called to an emergency and you do everything you can to save someone’s life, but fail, it can take a very strong mental toll on you. The paramedic game is very much as mental as it is physical, this is why it is said that this field is not for everybody. Paramedics get paid to save lives, but it is very much a stressful job when things don’t go your way.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, there are jobs that people take in the medical field that don’t have that type of high intensity and stress. In fact, while the medical field houses some of the world’s most stressful jobs, it also has some of the least stressful jobs imaginable. The position of a medical assistant is one of these well-known jobs that are perfect for those not wanting a job that requires a lot out of them. Medical assistants are paid to interact with patients, take vital signs, record information, and assist doctors during exams. Medical assistants are most of the time patient’s favorite part of visiting the hospital because they make the process so much more painless and easy. They really do attribute to the overall cycle of the hospital or health clinic and are very much the unsung heroes of the medical industry.
Because both of these jobs are so polarizing in terms of stress levels, it is not uncommon to find many paramedics that used to be medical assistants, and many medical assistants that used to be paramedics. They both are in the wonderful industry of medical, but sometimes there are people who crave a little bit more intensity and want to be there in the action, and of course there are those who want a bit more relaxed, personable environment.
